Death Toll Reaches 29 in the Philippines Due to Flooding

At least 29 people have been killed due to flooding in the Philippines, with 4 others reported missing, according to TASS.

As noted in a report released on Tuesday by the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, adverse weather conditions have affected more than 1.39 million people across 14 provinces in the republic.

Previously, 28 deaths had been reported. According to agency data, 203,300 people are currently in 484 evacuation centers. At least 14,100 individuals left their homes in advance, and 12 citizens sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Over 1,030 disaster-related incidents have been recorded in the 14 provinces, including floods and landslides. The natural disasters have caused damage to 1,370 homes, amounting to 2.41 million pesos (approximately $43,800).

The damage to 156 infrastructure projects is estimated at 171.5 million pesos (about $3.13 million), while agricultural losses stand at 399.5 million pesos (around $7.29 million).

Flooding has also impacted 238 roads and 55 bridges, affecting 26 seaports. Power outages were recorded in 63 cities, with restoration completed in 39 of them, while water supply issues persist in 9 communities and communication problems in 3.

Classes and business operations have been halted in 555 cities and 134 municipalities. A state of emergency has been declared in 32 localities. The government has allocated 74.5 million pesos (approximately $1.36 million) for aid.
