Sweden Will Not Investigate Erdogan Effigy Hanging Incident
Swedish judicial authorities will not investigate the incident of hanging an effigy of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Stockholm on January 11. This was reported by TASS, citing the Aftonbladet newspaper.
It was noted that the Swedish prosecutor's office found nothing illegal in the actions of the protesters. Prosecutor Lukas Eriksen stated that the prosecutor's decision could be appealed, in which case it would be examined by a senior prosecutor. Eriksen himself has decided not to pursue the case.
Earlier, Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, commenting on the protest in Stockholm during which Erdogan's effigy was hung by its feet, said that the PKK is laying mines on Sweden's path to NATO membership.
