“Sometimes Read Aliyev’s Speeches”: Tatevik Hayrapetyan

The former MP and Azerbaijani expert Tatevik Hayrapetyan writes on her Facebook page:

“Meanwhile, at the highest level in Azerbaijan, they refer to the current territory of Armenia as 'Western Azerbaijan' and present new claims, while the Armenian Foreign Ministry has not even made a statement regarding the 33rd anniversary of the Armenian massacres in Baku. Such a statement was made last year, however. If our authorities believe that by remaining silent and not 'upsetting' Baku they can prevent escalation, then they do not understand anything about Azerbaijan’s politics. Escalation is prevented by being prepared on the ground, by increasing the combat readiness of the army, by fostering resilience within the public, in short, by being prepared for war, so that your opponent knows that they will not be able to tolerate aggression. By ignoring our own history, remaining silent about it, and renouncing our vital rights, we will only increase Baku's appetite, help fill the field with new historical fabrications, and put the Armenian statehood into question. Sometimes read Aliyev’s speeches; maybe it will help understand what the adversary thinks.”
