Pique's Response to Shakira: 'Ferrari Swapped for Twingo'

Football player Gerard Pique has indirectly responded to his ex-wife, singer Shakira, regarding her new controversial song featuring 53 tracks, in which the star ostensibly alludes to Pique saying he has "swapped a Ferrari for a Renault Twingo, Rolex for a Casio." According to the Daily Mail, the athlete arrived in a budget Renault Twingo.

Although Pique's name is not mentioned in the song, social media users are convinced that it refers specifically to him. The song begins with the lines, "Sorry, I’ve already boarded another plane. I’m not coming back here, I don’t want another disappointment." Currently, Pique is dating a 23-year-old student.

The lyrics continue, "You thought you would hurt me, but you made me stronger: You try so hard to appear like a champion, but when I needed you, you showed me your worst side. A wolf like me is not for guys like you." At the end of the second verse, Shakira wishes her ex "all the best with his supposed replacement" and insists that Pique has "swapped a Ferrari for a Renault Twingo, Rolex for a Casio."

The former Barcelona defender has already responded to the last line. He appeared on live broadcast of Spain’s Kings League wearing a Casio watch and announced he had signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with the brand. "This watch will last a lifetime," he said.

It is worth recalling that Shakira and Pique announced their separation in June after 11 years together; they have two sons, nine-year-old Milan and seven-year-old Sasha.
