Military Serviceman Provided State and Service Secrets to Foreign Agents for Money
The National Security Service of the Republic of Artsakh has revealed that a citizen of the Republic, a serviceman from military unit N of the Defense Army, came under the attention of foreign special services in July 2021 and was recruited by them, agreeing to collect and hand over information constituting state and service secrets in the military sphere in exchange for payment.
During his criminal activities, he collected and handed over to the representative of the foreign special service information constituting state and service secrets related to the military domain via various mobile applications he used. Specifically, he provided details about his place of service, the direction and type of his subdivision, the number and types of available weapons, the composition of the command staff, combat positions, and combat duty, thereby committing treason against the territorial integrity and external security of the Republic of Artsakh.
The individual has been charged, and by court order, he has been placed in custody as a measure of restraint. The preliminary investigation in the criminal case continues.
The National Security Service of Artsakh once again urges the citizens of the Republic to immediately inform the relevant authorities if they are approached by foreign special services for recruitment or cooperation, in order to discuss issues related to the security and defense of Artsakh and to exclude the transfer of information, as well as to take appropriate measures.
Notice: a person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the criminal procedure code of Artsakh, by a legally binding court verdict.
