‘The Statements from Yerevan are Absurd’: Zakharova on Pashinyan’s Remark
Moscow considers the statements coming from Yerevan absurd, suggesting that the Russian presence in Armenia could pose a threat to Yerevan, said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
She noted that Russia continues to work towards the complete unblocking of the Lachin corridor, emphasizing the need to find a solution acceptable to all parties involved. This information was reported by RIA Novosti.
According to her, Russia intends to focus on substantive work rather than populism in addressing the situation surrounding the Lachin corridor. "At this moment, convoys carrying humanitarian aid are passing through the corridor. Once again, we want to emphasize that we find public attacks and provocations against our peacekeepers unacceptable; they are guarantors of peace in this region. Such actions can significantly damage the process of resolving Armenian-Azerbaijani relations," Zakharova stated during a briefing.
"We are determined to continue strengthening both bilateral relations and cooperation within the CSTO, EAEU, and the general integration associations of the CIS. In this context, the statements from Yerevan that 'the Russian presence poses a certain threat to Armenia's security' are absurd. For decades, our military personnel and border guards have made significant contributions to ensuring Armenia's security and maintaining its borders. This is an objective reality that cannot be denied," Zakharova concluded.
