Ruben Vardazaryan and Gagik Jhangiryan to Face Each Other: 'Zhoghovurd'
'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports that the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Committee, Sasun Khachatryan, is set to organize a confrontation between former Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Council, Ruben Vardazaryan and Gagik Jhangiryan, at the Anti-Corruption Committee in the near future.
It is worth recalling that on June 20, 2022, during a press conference, Ruben Vardazaryan made public a recording of a conversation with former Supreme Judicial Council President Gagik Jhangiryan, which exposed the entire judicial system, revealing how political directives were 'placed on Gagik Jhangiryan's shoulders.'
After six months of investigation, the Investigative Committee did not recognize Ruben Vardazaryan as a victim, and no one was involved as a defendant in the criminal proceedings. Now it has been decided to reopen the criminal case regarding the audio recording of the conversation between former Supreme Judicial Council President Ruben Vardazaryan and former acting President Gagik Jhangiryan. This information was provided to 'Zhoghovurd' newspaper by Ruben Vardazaryan.
Furthermore, the decisions of the investigator to not initiate criminal proceedings against Gagik Jhangiryan, Supreme Judicial Council members Sergey Chichoyan and Vigen Kocharyan, and to close the case have also been revoked. The case has been transferred from the Investigative Committee to the Anti-Corruption Committee according to investigative jurisdiction.
It is important to note that a criminal case was initiated against Ruben Vardazaryan following the wiretapping of a conversation with a judge, which led him to publicize the conversation with Jhangiryan. Thus, it turns out that both former presidents of the Supreme Judicial Council lost their positions due to the consequences of wiretapping.
