What Was the Cause of the Murder in Zeytun: Details
As a result of extensive investigative actions conducted within the framework of a criminal case under investigation by the Kanakerr-Zeytun Division of the Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee, several circumstances related to the murder, bodily harm, and hooliganism incidents that occurred in Yerevan on January 6 have been clarified, along with the motivation and the identity of the alleged perpetrator, who is a resident of Yerevan born in 2004. This was reported by the Investigative Committee.
According to the factual data obtained during the investigation, on January 3, 2023, on P. Sevak Street in Yerevan, the above-mentioned 18-year-old youth admonished a group of young people for using offensive language, after which a brawl broke out between him and his friends on one side and the mentioned young people on the other side.
For the clarification of this issue, in accordance with a prior arrangement, on January 6, 2023, around 16:00, the 18-year-old youth, along with his friends, met the aforementioned individuals at the intersection of P. Sevak and Rubinyants Streets, where he unlawfully deprived one of them of life by inflicting knife wounds, while also causing bodily harm to three others.
Based on the collected evidence, a petition was submitted to the prosecutor supervising the pre-trial proceedings to initiate public criminal proceedings against the 18-year-old resident of Yerevan under Part 1 of Article 155 and Part 3 of Article 297 of the RA Criminal Code, which was approved. He has been detained as a preventive measure. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Earlier, media reports indicated that one person had been arrested in connection with the murder that took place near the well-known "Degusto" fast-food outlet in Zeytun.
