The Prosecutor's Office Demands the Seizure of Taron Margaryan's Illegally Acquired Property
The Anti-Corruption Court accepted the proceedings on December 27, 2022, regarding the 24th petition submitted by the Prosecutor's Office for the seizure of illegally acquired property.
The Prosecutor General's Department for the seizure of illegally acquired property has presented a demand to the court to seize from Taron Margaryan, a member of the National Assembly of Armenia and former mayor of Yerevan, as well as six individuals connected to him, in favor of the Republic of Armenia:
- Six residential houses located in the Avan administrative district of Yerevan,
- One area designated for public use,
- One summer house in the city of Jermuk, Vayots Dzor Province,
- Two vehicles, or, in case of impossibility, their average market value amounting to 1 billion 528 million 800 thousand 500 drams.
The average market value of participation in one legal entity is stated as follows: the average market values of one immovable and three movable properties located in Yerevan total 853 million 402 thousand 782 drams, of which 755 million 154 thousand 928 drams is considered the remainder of illegal income, and 98 million 247 thousand 854 drams is not substantiated by the individual’s legal income, thus having illegal origin and cannot be seized, based on Article 20, Part 4 of the Law on the Seizure of Illegally Acquired Property.
