Very often they say the responsibility for the war is mine: Prime Minister

Our speeches and objectives often have little to do with reality, or that connection is weak, and this leads to crises. This was stated today, January 10, during a press conference by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan.

“Our task is to try to have a new perspective on reality, to verify from that perspective, and to reflect on our perceptions, to what extent they are real. Let's understand, if we made a mistake, why we made a mistake, and how we made a mistake. Very often they say that the responsibility for the war is mine. That's fine, let's understand what the action was that should have allowed us to avoid the war. In other words, the correct formulation is that those regions should have been surrendered, and Armenia should have accepted the uncertainty of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh and its de facto registration as part of Azerbaijan, and allowed the Azerbaijanis who left Nagorno-Karabakh to return and exercise their governance over Nagorno-Karabakh. Now, in hindsight, one can say that yes, it might have been better than what we have today. But at that time, who would have convinced whom that this was a path we should take? This is under conditions where we knew we had a strong army and reliable allies, when official reports were presented on the table stating that we were capable of acting with no retreat logic, and so on.

I do not want to divert any accusations with this, all of that exists, happened. I am saying let’s look deeper. We do not even meet the level of an X-ray to fully understand the issue. This is a problem at the DNA level,” said the Prime Minister.

He stated that our model of patriotism is a Soviet model, which fundamentally has a serious contradiction with the state and statehood of Armenia. “If we do not reach that level, we will not solve the puzzles,” he added.
