Temperatures in a Village in Yakutia Dropped to -61 Degrees
On January 10, the temperature in the village of Zhilynda, Yakutia, plummeted to minus 61 degrees Celsius, according to RIA Novosti, referencing the Yakutia Hydrometeorological Department.
According to meteorologists, temperatures of minus 45 degrees or lower have been recorded in nine regions of the republic. In the northwestern and northeastern parts of Yakutia, nighttime temperatures reach minus 50 degrees.
"In the village of Zhilynda, Oleneksky District of Yakutia, daytime temperatures are minus 61 degrees, with a pressure of 757 mm of mercury, and no wind," as indicated on the weather map.
The capital of the republic, Yakutsk, is experiencing a cold of minus 42 degrees. An 'activated' day has been declared for students in grades 1-8, and classes are being held in a remote format.
