Official Proposal for Armenia to Become Part of a Union State Has Not Been Made, Says Pashinyan

Official proposals for Armenia to become part of a Union State have not been made and could not have been made, but the reality is not as simple as it seems. Sometimes we must examine questions not just for their text, but for their subtext, and we need to delve deeply into global processes. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a press conference, responding to a question about whether an offer had been made for Armenia to be part of such a union.

“What I can say is that for us, the sovereignty, statehood, and independence of the Republic of Armenia are absolute values; we consider the preservation of our state's and homeland's statehood to be our duty and mission,” Pashinyan said.

In response to the observation that if no official offer has been made, there might have been unofficial proposals through other channels, Pashinyan remarked, “It depends on what we mean by unofficial channels; for instance, a continuously evolving discourse from experts can be considered an unofficial channel.”
