Pashinyan's Claims Are Concerned: They Have No Relation to the Position of the Artsakh Armenians - Artsakh Security Council

The meeting of the Security Council was convened under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Araik Harutyunyan, on January 11, with the participation of representatives from all political forces of the Artsakh National Assembly. The discussions focused on the consequences of the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh, which has lasted for about a month due to the blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan, as well as the high-level political statements made in recent days. A statement from the Artsakh Security Council was adopted, which we present below.

“For about a month now, a group of so-called eco-activists, with the full and open support of the authorities of Azerbaijan, has blocked the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia. By such actions, the Azerbaijani side has effectively deprived the population of the Republic of Artsakh of the only opportunity to communicate with the outside world, leaving 120,000 people in complete blockade, with all consequent humanitarian, health, and economic implications.

The remarks made by the President of Azerbaijan during the press conference held on January 10 of this year once again confirmed that all of this is nothing more than a blatant manifestation of the Azerbaijani authorities' use of threats of force in the resolution process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which is a continuation of the 44-day war unleashed by Azerbaijan against the people of the Republic of Artsakh in 2020.

In this context of realities, several statements and views expressed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia during his press conference the day before have raised concerns, as they do not align with either the ideas of our national struggle or the position adopted by the population and authorities of the Republic of Artsakh. We recognize all the consequences that arise from our political line and reaffirm our position that the sovereignty of Artsakh and the right to live freely and independently in our historical homeland are absolute values. No imposition or threat can deter us from our decision to continue the struggle.

Accordingly, we appeal to the international community, calling for accountability for the terrorist actions undertaken by Azerbaijan and the planned new genocide preparations. The people and authorities of the Republic of Artsakh are confident that the Armenian diaspora around the world will continue to support the decisions made by their sisters and brothers in Artsakh, and we urge the authorities of Armenia to adhere solely to the position of promoting and protecting the interests of the people of Artsakh in international forums, utilizing internationally recognized opportunities and all available tools.”
