International Law Must Be Respected Regardless of Gas and Oil Reserves, Marukyan
Azerbaijan has kept 120,000 residents of Nagorno-Karabakh under blockade for a month and has held Armenian prisoners of war for over two years, violating international law. This statement was made by Armenia's Special Envoy Edmon Marukyan on his Twitter microblog.
He also added, 'Azerbaijan must lift the blockade of the Lachin corridor and release the prisoners of war. International law must be respected, regardless of how much gas and oil you have.'
Since December 12, 2022, Azerbaijan has kept the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the outside world, the Lachin corridor, closed. Due to the closure of this road, 1,100 individuals, including 270 children, have been unable to return from Armenia to Artsakh. Rights to free movement, minimum standards of living, access to medical care, education, and other rights have been violated.
