Around Ten Media Outlets Denied Access to Nikol Pashinyan's Press Conference: Journalists' Union

The government has announced that a press conference with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will be held on January 10, during which journalists are required to submit the names of participants. However, around ten media outlets have been denied the opportunity to attend the conference and ask him questions, according to the Journalists' Union of Armenia.

"No reasonable explanation has been provided officially for the ban on these media outlets, which raises reasonable doubt that certain media were deprived of participating in Nikol Pashinyan's press conference due to their non-governmental stance. Conversely, however, several other non-governmental media outlets have also received invitations to attend the press conference," the statement reads.

The Journalists' Union of Armenia condemns the discrimination exercised by the government or the Prime Minister's staff in selecting participants for a public event involving a state official, which contradicts the fundamental principles of democracy, freedom of the press, and equality, further deepening the already growing atmosphere of mutual misunderstanding and intolerance in the country. The government staff is called upon to promptly cancel this discriminatory decision and ensure the participation of representatives from all media outlets without exception at the press conference scheduled for January 10.

It is noteworthy that the Prime Minister's press conference will start today at 12 PM.
