“We Don’t Need Sympathy and Compassion”: President of the Artsakh National Assembly

Artsakh National Assembly President Artur Tovmasyan addressed the ongoing blockade of Artsakh:

“Today marks the 29th day of the blockade of Artsakh. As a result of the blockade, 270 Artsakh students remaining in the Republic of Armenia will now attend various schools in Goris and Yerevan. The basic rights of these children have been grossly violated. New Year is a holiday filled with family miracles. Unfortunately, there was no miracle for these Artsakh children. Are the small Artsakh and these children from split families a threat to neighboring Azerbaijan or Turkey?

The National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh has appealed to all humanitarian organizations, the co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group, and the civilized world with its statements, yet our voice remains unheard until now. The topic of Artsakh and the people of Artsakh is often touched upon in international platforms. However, we do not need sympathy and compassion; we need visible and effective actions. We are a nation of hope and faith. Let us hope that our prayers to God will open the door to salvation,” Tovmasyan wrote.
