U.S. Embassy Comments on the Closure of the Lachin Corridor

The official assessment from Washington states that the blocking of the Lachin corridor hinders the peace process and undermines international trust.

In response to a query from 'Liberty', the U.S. Embassy in Armenia has noted that the United States continues to be "concerned about the disruption of access to the Lachin corridor and the humanitarian consequences of the current situation."

"We call for the full restoration of free movement through the corridor. The only path to progress in all matters is through negotiations," the embassy stated.

When asked whether the U.S. is taking any steps regarding the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh and the possibility of providing humanitarian aid to Artsakh, the embassy responded that "the U.S. Agency for International Development is responding to the needs of displaced persons in Armenia in accordance with the requests from the Armenian government."
