Surenyans on Upcoming Weather Forecast

After nearly 20 days of extremely dry and hot weather, as anticipated, significant snowfall was observed in many regions of the republic last night. This was reported by the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center.

The snow cover in the Masrik area reaches 22 cm, while in Goris and Sisian, it is between 10-15 cm, and in other regions of the republic, it is between 1-5 cm. In Shirak, there is no snow cover. As of January 9, the amount of precipitation is only 0-10% of the monthly norm, except in the Masrik area, where it reaches 40%, which is still a very low indicator.

The daily average temperature in most regions remains 3-4 degrees above climatic norms. Over the next 5 days, light snow is expected only in Lori, Tavush, Syunik, and Artsakh, while the other regions of the republic, including Yerevan, are expected to remain precipitation-free until January 15th.

As the weather clears, the temperature will drop by 5-7 degrees tonight, and it is not expected to change significantly afterward.

Gagik Surenyans, the deputy director of the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center, shared in a publication, stating: “In the upcoming 5 days, light snow will only fall in Lori, Tavush, Syunik, and Artsakh; in the other regions of the republic, including Yerevan, no precipitation is expected until January 15.”
