Red Cross Representatives Visit Armenian Prisoners Held in Baku
Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have conducted their latest visit to Armenian prisoners held in Baku this December. The information was shared with Sputnik Armenia by Zara Amatuni, head of communication programs at the ICRC delegation.
She noted that everyone was again given the opportunity to make phone calls. “We hope that in the future, visits will continue at least with the same frequency. We do not make any announcements in advance,” she said.
Regarding the closure of the Lachin corridor, specifically on the transfer of patients facilitated by the ICRC, she stated: “Our direct communication with the parties is ongoing, and when necessary, we do everything possible to organize the transfer of individuals quickly.”
It is worth recalling that Baku currently confirms the fact that 33 individuals are held captive following the 44-day war of 2020. However, official Yerevan insists that the number is higher. According to human rights defenders, 80 individuals are in Azerbaijani captivity.
