Police Chief Dismissed from Position; Appointed to New Role

By the decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahe Ghazaryan has been appointed as the Minister of Internal Affairs after being dismissed from the position of Police Chief.

“Based on the Prime Minister's proposal, in accordance with Article 131 of the Constitution, as well as Article 5, Part 1 of the Law on the Structure and Activities of the Government, Vahe Ghazaryan is appointed as the Minister of Internal Affairs,” the presidential decree states.

Additionally, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has signed a decision to approve the number of positions necessary for organizing and implementing the formation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The decision states, “In accordance with Article 7, Part 5 of the Law on the Structure and Activities of the Government and Article 4, Part 3 of the Law on Amendments and Additions to the Law on the Structure and Activities of the Government of December 16, 2022, O-457-N, 1. The number of positions necessary for organizing and implementing the formation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is approved as per the annex.”

It is noted that during the first meeting of the government in 2023, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that the Minister and Deputy Ministers of Internal Affairs would be appointed this week.
