Mirzoyan Meets with EU Technical Assessment Team Members
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, hosted members of the EU technical assessment team led by Marcin Wydra, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The team is in Armenia to explore the possibility of deploying a new EU civilian mission.
Also present at the meeting was Andrea Victorino, head of the EU Delegation to Armenia. The parties discussed the work of the EU observation mission, which concluded on December 19.
In this context, Minister Mirzoyan praised the role of the observation mission in strengthening stability in the region and preventing new aggressions against Armenia, expressing readiness to continue cooperation.
It’s noteworthy that in an interview with Public Television on December 26, the Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, stated that a new European technical observation mission is already in Armenia, while the observation group that arrived in October has completed its mission.
The previous EU observation mission arrived in Armenia in October for a two-month period. On December 19, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell announced that the EU intends to establish a new, long-term mission in Armenia following the completion of the civilian monitoring group’s activities.
