VIDEO: Wagner Leader Announces Amnesty for Some Prisoners Participating in Military Operations
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of Wagner PMC, has announced that the first group of former prisoners who participated in special military operations in Ukraine has signed a six-month contract, and all criminal records of these prisoners have been cleared. This was reported by РИА Новости.
"They have completed their contract. They worked honorably and with dignity. First, we worked in a way that few have worked in this world," he stated.
Wagner PMC announced that amnesty has been granted to only a couple of dozen former prisoners in the first group. According to РИА Новости, during their six-month service, they received a salary, but it was less than that of other volunteers.
Prigozhin noted that among the fighters were those who ended up in prison accidentally or due to their difficult personalities. He emphasized that Russian society has given these individuals a second chance. He also mentioned that among those who went to the war zone were individuals who "should have been in prison for two days."
