Europe Saved from Energy Crisis This Month Thanks to Warm Weather

January's abnormally warm weather has been a gift to European countries, saving them from an energy crisis; however, it is premature to talk about its end. Bloomberg reports on the situation.

“The first half of the month could be one of the warmest in decades if everything progresses as expected,” said meteorologist Matthew Dros.

In France and Germany, temperatures are currently 2-5 degrees above the climatic norm, allowing residents to reduce their heating consumption. Simultaneously, adverse weather is contributing to the development of wind energy, the newspaper notes. According to forecasts, the heating demand in Europe could be lower than the average for the last decade during the current month.
