Anomalous Cold Wave Expected in Russia in Coming Days

An anomalous cold wave is expected in Russia in the coming days. This was reported to TASS by the scientific director of the Russian Hydro-Meteorological Center.

Earlier, the Russian Hydrometeorological Center announced that on January 6, Moscow will experience its coldest five-day period in the last 20 years, with temperatures ranging from -20 °C to -26 °C, while in the region, temperatures may drop to -30 °C.

In the upcoming days, temperatures are expected to reach as low as -53 °C in Yakutia, the Magadan region, and Chukotka, while the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug may see temperatures ranging from -45 °C to -47 °C.

Several regions in the European part of the country and the Urals are also forecasted to experience temperatures as low as -33 to -35 °C.
