UN Security Council to Hold Meeting on Situation Surrounding Temple Mount
The United Nations Security Council will convene to discuss the situation surrounding the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. This information was reported by РИА Новости.
The meeting is set to begin on January 5 at midnight local Armenian time.
The session has been organized following the visit of Israel’s National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, leader of the far-right Jewish Power party, to the Temple Mount, which includes the Al-Aqsa mosque complex. It has been noted that China and the United Arab Emirates have requested the meeting.
Ben Gvir's visit has sparked significant outrage among Palestinians. His actions have also been criticized by several Arab nations, including Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. They have indicated that visiting the sacred site for Muslims would escalate tensions both within the country and beyond its borders.
