Minister of Justice on Digitalization of All Court Proceedings
The Ministry of Justice will work towards the digitalization of all court proceedings in the upcoming year. In an interview with Armenpress, Minister of Justice Grigor Minasian addressed the question of what steps the ministry has taken to integrate electronic technologies into the management process.
“The Ministry of Justice is coordinating the digitalization processes of all systems in the field of justice. Over the past year, the work on the digitalization of civil proceedings has started and is currently in full swing. In Vayots Dzor, a pilot electronic system for criminal cases prior to court proceedings has already been launched,” Minasian noted.
According to the minister, to make life more convenient for citizens, the official website of the Enforcement Service has introduced an “Electronic Office” platform, where citizens and legal entities registered can familiarize themselves with the enforcement proceedings initiated against them, track the progress, view imposed restrictions, make payments, and follow the processes for unblocking funds and other property as well as the termination of enforcement proceedings.
“We are also working on minimizing the timeframe for unblocking citizens’ accounts when they fulfill their obligations. As a result of implementing a pilot program with the majority of banks in Armenia, this timeframe has been reduced to one day, instead of the previous 7 or more days,” Minasian added.
Another innovation is the “e-probation” platform, which digitalizes the operations of the Probation Service, allowing for the automatic generation of necessary data concerning probation beneficiaries. The electronic health system “e-health” has also been implemented at the Penitentiary Medical Center. According to the minister, within the framework of the program, the documentation related to medical aid and services for incarcerated patients will be carried out through this platform.
The ministry will continue working on the digitalization of all court proceedings in the upcoming year while also completing ongoing programs. “Our ultimate goal is to create a unified ‘E-Justice’ platform, where citizens can access all services of the justice system easily and quickly enforce their rights,” Minasian concluded.
