Azerbaijan's Blockade of Artsakh Was Certainly Expected - Babayan

The recent events require a radical reconsideration of the entire philosophy and strategy of state-building in Artsakh. This was stated by the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh, Davit Babayan, on his Facebook page.

“Azerbaijan's blockade of Artsakh was certainly expected. But, as they say, conclusions are not drawn until the thunder strikes. The events demand a radical reconsideration of the entire philosophy and strategy of state-building in Artsakh. This reconsideration must relate to both state programs and development priorities, as well as our daily lives. Only in this way can we overcome the challenges that lie ahead,” he wrote.

It is worth remembering that for the 24th day now, the only road connecting Artsakh to the world, the Lachin Corridor, remains closed. Azerbaijan has blocked the corridor since December 12, citing false environmental claims. As a result of Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor, a humanitarian crisis has emerged for 120,000 people in Artsakh over the past 23 days, including 30,000 children, 20,000 elderly individuals, and around 9,000 people with disabilities. Due to the closure of the road, 1,100 individuals from Armenia have been unable to return to Artsakh, including 270 children.
