Iran's Foreign Minister Discusses General Soleimani's Killing

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has announced that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed the American side through the Swiss Embassy in Tehran about the legal measures undertaken by Tehran following the assassination of General Qassem Soleimani, as reported by Mehr.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry held a ceremony dedicated to the third anniversary of General Qassem Soleimani's death, attended by Amir-Abdollahian and the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Hossein Salami.

In his speech, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized that it is the inalienable duty of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to pursue justice for the assassination, and for this purpose, a diplomat has been appointed to oversee the investigation into General Soleimani’s killing in legal and international arenas.

He further added that a special committee has also been formed within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to closely collaborate with the judicial bodies and legal department of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, the Quds Forces, and other Iranian organizations.

According to Amir-Abdollahian, the Ministry has been able to expedite the legal and judicial processes using this mechanism. He also noted the cooperation of the Iraqi government in this matter. The Foreign Minister pointed out that there is close collaboration between the judicial bodies of the two countries, and to date, three phases of precise and technical discussions have taken place between Tehran and Baghdad.

Amir-Abdollahian announced that Tehran is preparing to hold the fourth round of negotiations next week, stating that necessary documents have been prepared in cooperation with the Iraqi side for presentation during international legal and judicial processes.

The senior Iranian diplomat also remarked that the Iraqi government has provided evidence that General Soleimani was an official guest in Iraq at the time of his assassination.
