Essential Goods Depleted in Stores, Says Apresyan
Essential goods have run out in the stores of the Askeran region of the Artsakh Republic. Hamlet Apresyan, the administrative head of the Askeran region, stated this in an interview with News.am.
“People lack a New Year’s spirit, but there is no panic; we understand the situation and endure. Essential goods have nearly sold out in all stores, with only candies, drinks, juices, and some household items remaining. However, it is positive that people have preserved food and stored goods,” Apresyan noted.
He added that the situation is easier in villages than in Askeran itself since villagers typically have their small farms, keep livestock, engage in beekeeping, and have prepared supplies for themselves, even managing to supply the city.
According to Apresyan, there is no shortage of bread in the region, thanks to stored flour, and bread production facilities are operating. There is also currently no lack of any kind of medication.
The region has mainly transitioned to using gas as fuel. “We have a gasoline reserve, but we use it very sparingly. Taxis, buses, and freight vehicles operate on gas. The route-based transports are operational but with a tighter schedule,” Apresyan stated.
