Don't Remain Indifferent, Please: Artsakh Human Rights Defender

For more than two weeks, Artsakh has been under a blockade created by Azerbaijan. This was stated by the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, Gegham Stepanyan, on his Twitter microblog. “The civilized world must force Azerbaijan to stop this crime against humanity. Please, do not remain indifferent; raise your voice to open the path of life,” wrote the Artsakh Human Rights Defender.

For the 23rd consecutive day, the only road connecting Artsakh to the world, the Lachin Corridor, remains blocked. Azerbaijan has closed the corridor since December 12, citing false environmental reasons. As a result of Azerbaijan’s illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor, 120,000 people in Artsakh are facing a humanitarian crisis, including 30,000 children, 20,000 elderly individuals, and around 9,000 people with disabilities.

Due to the closure of the road, 1,100 people, including 270 children, have been unable to return to Artsakh from Armenia.
