Dardanelles Strait Closed Again Today
The Dardanelles Strait has been closed to navigation for the third consecutive day. The reason is the thick fog that has enveloped Istanbul. This information comes from the news agency 'RIA Novosti'.
“Captains of ships entering from the south have been warned via radio that the strait is closed for the mutual passage of vessels due to limited visibility,” reported the service responsible for ensuring safe passage through the Dardanelles Strait.
It has been announced that ship traffic will be regulated when the fog dissipates. Ferry services across the strait are continuing. The thick fog in the metropolis has persisted for three days now, resulting in about 50 flight cancellations on the evening of January 2.
