WhatsApp to Stop Working on Dozens of Smartphones from December 31

From December 31, the WhatsApp messenger will no longer function on 49 old smartphone models. These are models that were released at least a few years ago, yet some people continue to use them.

On October 24, WhatsApp also ceased operation on iPhones running iOS 10 and 11. In the future, the list of operating systems that will no longer be supported will gradually expand.

Before WhatsApp stops functioning, users of the listed smartphones will receive several notifications regarding the need to update the operating system or the device itself.

It should be noted that WhatsApp has recently introduced many new features, including Picture-in-Picture for video calls, Message Yourself for sending messages to oneself, Call Link, and Communities. A new feature has also been introduced that allows the use of one account on multiple smartphones simultaneously, conducting polls in personal chats, as well as the ability to set a virtual avatar and speed up voice messages by 1.5 and 2 times.
