Action Needed Regarding Lachin Corridor: Ombudsman
International important actors and organizations have voiced direct and targeted assessments regarding Azerbaijan's blockade of the Lachin corridor, but this is not enough as the situation remains unchanged. Human Rights Defender Kristine Grigoryan stated this during a briefing with journalists.
“International important actors and organizations have made direct and targeted assessments. The ongoing blockade gives grounds to argue that the assessments no longer satisfy us, as the situation is not changing; action is necessary. In particular, I have called on the UN Human Rights Council to send a fact-finding mission to the Lachin Corridor to understand the situation on the ground and to have a basis for its conclusions,” Grigoryan noted.
According to the Ombudsman, Azerbaijan is distorting reality, and therefore sending a mission is a necessity.
