Another Proof That Azerbaijan Is Not Preparing for Peace with Armenia: ‘Tatoyan’ Foundation

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense has long been presenting Armenian communities with fabricated names, creating the impression that these territories belong to Azerbaijan. This was reported by the ‘Tatoyan’ Foundation.

We draw the attention of the international community to this fact and firmly assert that it is part of the anti-Armenian and hostile policies of the Azerbaijani authorities. It reflects their true intentions and aspirations toward Armenia’s sovereign territory.

Specifically, studies by the Center for Law and Justice, ‘Tatoyan’ Foundation, show that in official communications from Azerbaijan’s military department, the name Gyumri is referred to as İstisu, Sisian as Qarakilsə, Vaghatur as Vağudi, Vardenis as Basarkeçər, Norabak as Əzizli, Upper Shorzha as Yukhari Shorzha, and so forth.

In contrast, while disregarding the historical names of Armenian settlements in Artsakh, they are attempting in every way to present fake Azerbaijani variants, completely ignoring the rights and interests of the indigenous Armenian people (for example, Martakert is referred to as Ağdəra, and Martuni as Xocavənd, etc.).

This fact serves as yet another proof that Azerbaijan is not preparing for peace with Armenia. Furthermore, even in the event of signing a peace treaty, such a document will not be effective as long as the international community does not take effective measures to eliminate the Azerbaijani authorities' policies of inciting war and hostility.

These evidences are also being documented for the purpose of sending to international organizations and presenting during various meetings.
