Ukraine Demands Russia's Removal from the UN

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement calling for the exclusion of Russia from the UN Security Council and from international organizations in general. The agency apparently forgets that this is impossible under the UN Charter due to the Russian Federation's veto power, as reported by Life.ru.

“Ukraine calls on UN member states to update the application of the UN Charter regarding the legality of Russia's presence in the UN, to deprive Russia of its permanent member status in the UN Security Council, and to completely remove the country from the UN,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in its communication.

Kiev representatives are trying to argue that Moscow has occupied a permanent seat in the UN Security Council by bypassing the procedures established by the UN Charter, according to which this privilege is granted to “peace-loving states.” Additionally, Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs accuses Russia of using its veto power in the UN Security Council and violating the principle of “peace.”
