There Will Be a Fight, But There Will Be No Corridor: Samvel Babayan

We need to establish a strategic axis between Russia, Armenia, and Iran that will allow us to avoid a war in the region against Iran by Turkey and Azerbaijan in the future. If we do not prepare for this, we will be destroyed in that war. This was stated by Samvel Babayan, former commander of the Artsakh Defense Army, in an interview with CivilNet.

“Forget about the corridor. There will be a fight, but there will be no corridor. I am speaking about preparing for the fight, not discussing the corridor,” he said.

According to him, due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, Russia is now weakened and cannot, rather than does not want, to take decisive actions against Azerbaijan and Turkey. Meanwhile, Armenia only demands from Russia without being prepared for anything.

Babayan added that in such a situation, where Armenia is not a factor, Russia will hold onto Artsakh as long as it is able to.

Regarding Turkish-Azerbaijani cooperation, Samvel Babayan noted that they want to detach from “Iran to Tehran, Tabriz through the Caspian basin.”
