Russian Peacekeepers Assure Artsakh Residents: Lachin Corridor May Open on December 26

Hundreds of Artsakh residents, who marched from the Renaissance Square in Stepanakert to the Russian peacekeeping troops' checkpoint on December 24, have presented their demands to ensure normal traffic through the Lachin Corridor according to the November 9 trilateral statement.

Tigran Petrosyan, one of the initiative's organizers, informed that a representative of the Russian peacekeeping forces confirmed that the only road connecting Artsakh to Armenia and the outside world could open on December 26.

"They also assured that there can be no talk of establishing any checkpoints after the road is opened by the Azerbaijanis," the interlocutor noted, adding that they, the initiative participants, have currently accepted the assurance from the peacekeepers' representative as a basis.

Later, Tigran Petrosyan went live on Facebook, indicating that a representative of the Russian peacekeeping forces had informed them during the conversation that a meeting of the highest leadership would take place on December 26, and the issue would receive a final resolution, meaning the road should be opened.
