Gunman in Paris Planned to Go to Suburb to 'Kill Foreigners'

The gunman in Paris had planned to travel to the suburbs to 'kill foreigners' prior to the incident. The 69-year-old retiree, who fatally shot three Kurds near a cultural center in Paris, had intended to head to the outlying areas to target 'foreign visitors' just before committing his crime. This information was reported by РИА Новости, citing a communiqué from the Paris prosecutor's office.

On the day of the shooting, the gunman drove to the Saint-Denis commune, just north of Paris, with the intention of killing visitors to the country. However, he later changed his mind.

On December 23, news surfaced about the arrest of the man who opened fire on d'Engien street in Paris. He injured three people and killed three others. Witnesses reported that the suspect fired seven to eight shots. Later reports indicated that the accused was transferred to a psychiatric unit within the police headquarters, as his health condition did not permit him to remain in detention.

It should be noted that riots broke out in central Paris on the day of the murders and the following day. Hundreds marched from d'Engien street, where the shooting took place, to the Republic Square to pay tribute to the victims.

In the Marais district, just a few meters away from the square, some demonstrators clashed with police. Reports indicated that four cars and trash bins were overturned, and at least 13 police officers were injured during the confrontations.
