China Conducts Live-fire Drills Near Taiwan Island
The Chinese naval forces, along with other military branches, conducted patrol and live-fire exercises near Taiwan Island on Sunday. This was announced by Shi Yi, an official spokesperson for the Eastern Theater Command of the People's Liberation Army (PLA).
According to a statement posted on the command's WeChat social media page, "On December 25, the Chinese armed forces carried out patrols near Taiwan Island, involving units from all types of troops. The exercises also included live-fire drills and joint strikes." Shi Yi noted that the drills are "China's resolute response to the intensified provocations by the United States and Taiwan."
