Russia Seeks to Freeze Ukraine Conflict for New Offensive, Says Stoltenberg
Russia is aiming to freeze the conflict in Ukraine to prepare for a new offensive, stated NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
According to Stoltenberg in an article for the Financial Times, Russia hopes to freeze the conflict, which would allow its forces to regroup, re-equip, and attempt to launch a new attack. Additionally, the politician expressed that Russian authorities are not interested in resolving the Ukrainian conflict.
It is worth noting that Russian President Vladimir Putin previously stated that Russia has not abandoned talks with Ukraine, and the resumption of the negotiation process depends on Kyiv. Meanwhile, John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications at the U.S. National Security Council, mentioned that Russian authorities are not ready to begin discussions on resolving the Ukrainian conflict.
