The Situation is Extremely Severe Not Only for Artsakh, But Also for Armenia: Edik Baghdasaryan
Edik Baghdasaryan, the president of the NGO "Investigative Journalists," writes:
"The government and our society do not realize that the situation is extremely severe not only for Artsakh and its people. They fail to comprehend that it is critically serious for Armenia as well. Azerbaijan can attack at any moment, and the directions of the attack are quite predictable. It depends on the geopolitical situation which direction they will choose; just look at the roads and other infrastructures they have built.
The 'environmentalists' blocking the roads are there not only to create a backdrop for this attack but also for the mineral businesses of the Aliyev clan and their various foreign sponsors. The clans of Aliyev and his wife have been squandering Azerbaijan for decades. Their billions are not only in Azerbaijan but also in Great Britain, Russia, the USA, Panama, the Virgin Islands, and numerous other countries through offshore companies.
If the West wants to impose something on Azerbaijan, it can apply sanctions. There are all grounds for that. The West knows that Aliyev is a dictator; he is the 'father of corruption' in Azerbaijan, and through him, various officials, MPs, and diplomats from different countries are bribed. The majority of natural resources, banks, and different sectors of the economy are in the hands of Aliyev and his wife. Even the money of state-owned companies flows into their bank accounts through various schemes.
Statements from international organizations will not change anything until sanctions are imposed on the accounts and real estate of Ilham Aliyev, Mehriban Aliyeva, and their close associates in various banks around the world. Once the West starts that process, Azerbaijani activists will leave the road.
