USA to Provide Hundreds of Thousands of Shells to Ukrainian Armed Forces

In addition to Patriot missile defense systems, the United States will supply hundreds of thousands of shells for the Ukrainian armed forces, according to a statement from the U.S. State Department reported by РИА Новости.

The new military aid package will include 45,000 152 mm artillery shells, 20,000 122 mm howitzers, 50,000 122 mm BM-21 Grad rockets, and 100,000 125 mm tank ammunition.

It was previously reported that the U.S. Department of Defense Criminal Investigative Service (DCIS) will monitor the flow of arms supplied to Ukraine by the U.S. for signs of fraud and abuse. According to DCIS representative James Ivacy, the risk of fraud is certainly possible as it concerns weapons. The publication states that the main focus will be on the Pentagon's operational contracts and the potential leakage of American aid through the black market.
