Prosecutions of Defendants in the March 1 Case Being Dropped

According to the 'Haykakan Jamanak' newspaper, the Anti-Corruption Committee is moving towards dropping the proceedings related to the defendants in the 2008 March 1 criminal case. Specifically, based on the information received by the newspaper, the preliminary investigation body has closed the criminal case against former Chief of Police Alik Sargsyan due to the statute of limitations.

Similarly, the criminal cases against Deputy Police Chief Sashik Afyan and Deputy Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department Hovhannes Tamamyan have also been dropped.

The defendants, facing a complicated situation, have been unable to leave the country and had no choice but to agree to have the case closed due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. Thus, the proceedings in the March 1 case are successively being derailed, and Nikol Pashinyan has also failed to fulfill his promise to uncover the March 1 events.
