Taline Mayor Purchases 10 Million Dram Vehicle with State Funds

According to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd," the mayor of Taline has purchased a vehicle valued at approximately 10 million drams using state funds.

Official documents obtained by "Zhoghovurd" reveal that the vehicle was bought from a private individual, Taron Karapetyan, for 9 million 700 thousand drams. However, the Taline municipality's procurement documents "forgot" to mention the model of the purchased vehicle.

To get a response to this issue, "Zhoghovurd" contacted the mayor of Taline, Tavgros Sapeian. He stated, "This vehicle is for the community leader; the engines of the previous cars were worn out, they were old cars in miserable condition. I have been using my personal vehicle, without anything. You know what condition the municipality was in.” He went on to reveal that the vehicle is a Mercedes.

When asked why he decided to purchase a car worth around 24 thousand dollars when the community budget is not in great shape, Sapeian responded, "It’s a normal price. What’s the problem? I want to understand. We acquired a vehicle that will serve the community and lighten the workload for the next five years."

Additionally, it is noted that on September 27 of this year, Tavgros Sapeian was involved in an accident in the Hrazdan gorge of Yerevan. Apparently, the community leader needs a new vehicle since his car sustained serious damage from a strong collision with another vehicle.
