VIDEO: Alexandrov Fired and Wanted Following Statement on Azerbaijan

The Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) has terminated the employment of political science doctor Mikhail Alexandrov.

In an interview published on December 13, Alexandrov stated that if Azerbaijan uses violence against Russian peacekeepers stationed in Nagorno-Karabakh, Moscow could "strike the oil infrastructure in Baku, which would also affect the West by raising fuel prices in international markets."

The Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan stated that a criminal case has been opened against Alexandrov on three charges, including "calls for an aggressive war."

"By a court ruling, an international wanted notice has been issued for Alexandrov through Interpol, with detention being chosen as a preventive measure," the agency announced, adding that official Baku has "applied to several partner countries to ensure Alexandrov's extradition in case he enters those countries."
