SSC Director Meets with Relatives of Prisoners, Hostages, and Missing Persons
On December 16, 2022, a meeting was held under the leadership of the Director of the National Security Service, Major General A. Abazyan, with the inter-agency commission dealing with issues of prisoners, hostages, and missing persons. The meeting included family members and relatives of the prisoners, hostages, and missing persons, as well as members of the working group associated with the commission. This information was reported by the NSS.
During the meeting, the Chairman of the inter-agency commission, Major General A. Abazyan, highlighted the priorities that emerged from the review and analysis of the work conducted since the previous meeting of the commission. The need for legal regulation regarding the issues of prisoners, hostages, and missing persons (whose whereabouts are unknown) was particularly emphasized, and it was decided to take concrete steps towards drafting a conceptual project of the relevant law under the coordination of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia.
To ensure a permanent connection with the relatives of prisoners, hostages, and missing persons, specific instructions were given. In particular, the relevant staff of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia will ensure the receipt and documentation of applications and proposals from parents and relatives for the purpose of transferring them to the working group.
During the meeting, the members of the commission presented the work done, the progress of the implementation of the instructions given by the commission's chairman during the previous meeting, and also answered questions raised by the parents and relatives present at the meeting.
The meeting concluded with clear instructions given to the members of the commission.
