Qatar Threatens Europe with Energy Crisis Due to Corruption Scandal

Qatari authorities have announced that Doha's access to the European Parliament complex until the conclusion of the corruption scandal investigation could negatively affect relations with the EU and have repercussions on global energy security. This was reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP), citing an anonymous Qatari diplomat.

“Such discriminatory measures, which limit dialogue and cooperation with Qatar until the trial concludes, will adversely impact regional and global security cooperation, as well as ongoing discussions regarding global energy shortages and security,” the diplomat stated.

Doha reminded that they are a key supplier of liquefied gas to Belgium, where the investigation is ongoing.
