Prime Minister Pashinyan: Claims that Armenia Gave Oral Promise on Corridor Are Absurd
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that all claims suggesting Armenia has given an oral promise regarding the provision of a corridor are absurd and nonsensical. He made this statement before the start of a government session while addressing the topic of corridor discussions.
“Azerbaijan continuously and grossly violates point 9 of the trilateral statement dated November 9, 2020, asserting that Armenia must provide a corridor. The existence of any corridor through Armenian territory is not envisaged by the trilateral statement of November 9. No document signed by Armenia includes such provisions,” Pashinyan said.
He added that Armenia is ready to implement point 9 of the trilateral statement, which concerns the unblocking of economic and transport links in the region. Pashinyan emphasized that the trilateral statement does not impose any restrictions on Armenian sovereignty in this regard, and Armenia is ready to construct roads at any time, as stipulated by Armenian legislation.
It is worth noting that Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated that Armenia must provide them a “corridor” to connect with Nakhchivan; otherwise, the corridor will be taken by force.
