Marukyan Expects Russia to Provide Political Assessment

Special envoy Edmon Marukyan expects that Russia will provide a political assessment of the processes occurring around Artsakh and ensure unhindered movement through the Lachin corridor.

“There is information from the Russian peacekeeping forces, negotiations are underway, and I hope the negotiations will yield results, and the corridor will open because the alternative is the implementation of ethnic cleansing and other genocidal policies, which must not be allowed under any circumstances,” Marukyan emphasized in a briefing with reporters.

According to Marukyan, even if the road opens and the humanitarian crisis ends, that does not solve the issue. “The problem needs a long-term solution because if it is opened today, it could be closed tomorrow for another reason. That is why we are working with the international community, emphasizing that the issue requires a long-term solution; otherwise, these problems will continue.”
