I am confident that Russia can restore the connection between Armenia and Artsakh: protest in front of embassies
Protests in support of Artsakh continue in front of diplomatic representations operating in Armenia. The aim of the protests is to achieve a targeted condemnation of Azerbaijani provocations by the international community, practical steps to overcome the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh, and the restoration of uninterrupted connections between Artsakh and Armenia.
After carrying out protests in front of the UN office, the embassies of the USA, China, and the EU delegation in Armenia, participants also gathered in front of the Russian embassy in Armenia.
“I am confident that Russia can take all necessary actions to restore the connection between Armenia and Artsakh. The actions of Azerbaijan are also aimed at discrediting Russian peacekeepers. Azerbaijan should not feel impunity,” said Gegham Stepanyan, the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, during the protest.
He emphasized that the goal of Azerbaijan's actions is to prepare the ground for the withdrawal of Russian peacekeeping forces from Artsakh after 2025, leaving the people of Artsakh without security guarantees.
“We believe that the Russian Federation must curb Azerbaijan's actions, fulfill the provisions of the trilateral statement, and take all necessary actions to ensure the security of the people living in Artsakh. I am confident that the Russian Federation can do this. I believe that the Russian Federation wants to do this, and as a human rights defender of the people of Artsakh, who also has many interactions with representatives of the Russian peacekeeping forces, I know that there are people in the forces who are truly committed to their mission. I want to appeal once again to these people, asking them to take all actions needed to restore the uninterrupted connection between the motherland of Armenia and Artsakh as soon as possible, so that the two parts of the Armenian nation can reunite and put an end to the widespread violations of our people's rights,” declared the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh.
